Besiktas claimed the derby against Fenerbahçe thanks to a goal from Dusan Vlahovic, scored in the 73rd minute after a pass from Orkun Kökçü. Final score: 2-1, in the 4th round of the Turkish Championship.
The scenario had, however, started badly for the Black Eagles. Milan Skriniar had opened the scoring for Fenerbahçe in the 26th minute, before Rıdvan Yılmaz equalised in the 38th minute.
The Dusan Vlahovic factor
It was ultimately the Serbian striker who turned the derby around in the second half. A few minutes before his goal, Vlahovic had been at the centre of a scuffle with Skriniar. After a verbal exchange, the Slovak defender put a hand to his neck, a gesture that earned both players a yellow card. Matteo Guendouzi was also involved in the fracas.
With the tension having subsided, Vlahovic had the last word on the pitch, giving Besiktas a victory that counts double in this derby.
Fenerbahçe thus suffer their second defeat of the season, while Besiktas make an important move in the standings.
