Girondins de Bordeaux have not had their final say. Following the unfavourable opinion from the CNOSF, which recommends upholding their exclusion from the national leagues, the club announced its intention to file an emergency application with the administrative court on Monday 17 August. The objective is clear: to obtain a suspension of the decision in order to reclaim a place in National 1.
A change of ownership deemed insufficient by the CNOSF
The CNOSF's decision represents yet another blow for the club with the scapular crest. Bordeaux had nonetheless undergone a change of ownership at the end of July, with Gérard Lopez transferring his shares to Sparta Capital for a symbolic one euro. The new shareholder had also injected 10.6 million euros to fund the 2026-2027 season, clear part of the outstanding debts and meet the deadlines of the continuation plan.
These guarantees were not enough, however, to convince the conciliator, who maintained his recommendation of exclusion.
The last card of a club on the brink
As things stand, Bordeaux find themselves registered in Régional 1, while the National championship resumes as early as 22 August. The administrative appeal now represents the last lever available to the club to avoid this historic sporting fall.
The stakes go far beyond a simple question of division. A sustained exclusion could worsen the Girondins' financial difficulties and raise the spectre of compulsory liquidation. After the DNCG and the CNOSF, it is now before the judges that Bordeaux attempts to save its future.
