Brest 0-1 PSG: Paris holds firm and finally kicks off its Ligue 1 season

Paris Saint-Germain has finally secured its first league win. Beaten and held to draws in its first three matchdays, the Paris club won 1-0 at Brest after a match in which it had to stay solid until the very end.

Ferran Torres strikes again

Paris didn't wait to take the lead. As early as the 5th minute, João Neves won the ball back high up the pitch and released Ousmane Dembélé. With a backheel, the Frenchman set up Ferran Torres, who curled a perfect right-footed shot into the net from around twenty meters. 1-0. This is already Torres's third goal in Ligue 1 this season.

PSG then had several chances to make it two, notably through Dembélé and Kvaratskhelia. But Selvik kept Brest in the match.

Hakimi comes off, Paris reorganizes

The Parisian evening was also marked by the departure of Achraf Hakimi, who was injured in the adductor. The Moroccan gave way to Fabián Ruiz in the 39th minute, while Warren Zaïre-Emery took over at right-back.

Mboup dangerous, Safonov decisive

Brest gradually created more and more chances. Pathé Mboup was particularly lively and regularly forced the Parisian defense to intervene. The Senegalese striker was notably behind several dangerous situations.

Paris experienced a major scare in particular after an error from Nuno Mendes: Kamory Doumbia won the ball back and hit the post. A few minutes later, Safonov made an important save on a header from Doumbia.

In the final quarter of an hour, Brest pushed again and Mboup remained dangerous. Safonov intervened once more to preserve the Parisian lead.

Paris holds on until the end

After long searching for a second goal, PSG ultimately had to settle for this narrow win. Paris had chances to put the game out of reach, but also had to withstand Brest's final attacks.

A 1-0 win, a first success in Ligue 1 this season, and three points that finally get PSG's league campaign underway. Ferran Torres also confirms his excellent offensive form, while Safonov played an important role in preserving the clean sheet.
