Women's AFCON 2026: CAF opens broadcasting to the general public

FootReporter · 29 juillet 2026

The 2026 Women's AFCON, scheduled to take place in Morocco, will be streamed on CAF TV. The Confederation of African Football has confirmed an expanded coverage plan for this continental tournament. The aim is clearly to reach a wider audience, beyond traditional television viewers.

The United Kingdom is also included. The competition will be accessible there via YouTube, a free platform requiring no subscription. This choice of accessibility marks an evolution in the broadcasting strategy for African women's football, which has for too long been confined to closed circuits.

This decision comes at a time when African women's football is seeking to consolidate its visibility. Making matches accessible online, without any financial barrier, is a concrete lever for developing the sport and public interest, particularly among younger generations in Côte d'Ivoire and across West Africa. Grassroots clubs and national federations see it as an opportunity to recruit new players by inspiring spectators.
