Chelsea considering loaning Mudryk to Strasbourg for the 2026-27 season

Chelsea are considering loaning Mykhailo Mudryk to Strasbourg for the 2026-2027 season, without an option to buy, according to RMC Sport. The aim would be to allow the Ukrainian winger to gradually regain match rhythm after his long absence from the pitch.

A possible third loan between the two clubs

Strasbourg, which like Chelsea belongs to the BlueCo group, is said to be interested in the player. The Alsace club has already taken in two loanees from London this summer: goalkeeper Filip Jörgensen and defender Genesis Antwi. Mudryk could therefore become the third player loaned by Chelsea to Strasbourg this season, within the limit set by the regulations.

The Mudryk card

Signed from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 for a fee that could reach 100 million euros with bonuses, Mudryk has been kept off the pitch for nearly two years following an anti-doping procedure.

His test on 22 October 2024 had revealed a low concentration of meldonium. The procedure was finally concluded at the end of July 2026 with an agreement between the player, the English Football Association (FA) and the World Anti-Doping Agency. His period of ineligibility was reduced to time already served, allowing him to return to competition immediately. The FA also stated that, under WADA's current technical standards, the concentration found in his sample would not have constituted a violation.

Mudryk has since made his return with Chelsea. He notably came on against Juventus in pre-season, for his first appearance with the Blues in nearly two years.

Several clubs in the running

Leeds have also expressed interest in a loan for the player, but their initial approach reportedly did not succeed. Other English clubs are said to be interested, while Chelsea have yet to decide on the best solution to relaunch their winger.

The Strasbourg deal therefore remains open. Chelsea are studying this possibility, but no move for Mudryk to Alsace has been confirmed at this stage. The situation of Dario Essugo could also weigh on the decision: the midfielder is also among the players who could join Strasbourg, which could use up the last available loan spot between the two clubs.
