City and Bayern impress, PSG and Liverpool held in Matchday 2

FootReporter · 29 août 2026

Matchday 2 of Europe's top leagues is already well underway, and the first fixtures have delivered plenty of drama. Manchester City made a strong statement at Crystal Palace, Bayern Munich crushed Stuttgart, while PSG and Liverpool had to fight hard to snatch a draw.

City 4-1 Crystal Palace, Bayern 5-1 Stuttgart, Lille 2-2 PSG and Liverpool 2-2 Nottingham Forest: four results that already add plenty of spice to this second matchday.

City and Bayern impress

Manchester City won 4-1 at Crystal Palace, with braces from Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland. Bayern, meanwhile, produced a spectacular 5-1 win over Stuttgart.

Paris and Liverpool held again

PSG once again experienced a crazy finish. Trailing 2-0 at Lille, Paris equalised in stoppage time to come away with a point.

At Anfield, Liverpool also had to come from behind twice against Nottingham Forest. Alexander Isak equalised before Víctor Muñoz rescued the Reds in the 82nd minute. A result that mainly confirms Liverpool still need to find more control.
