It is now official. Bayer Leverkusen have announced the arrival of Miguel Gutiérrez from Napoli. The Spanish left-back has signed until 2031, as part of a transfer estimated at around 30 million euros.
Grimaldo's successor found
The German club have thus found the replacement for Alejandro Grimaldo, who left this summer. Known for his quality in build-up play, his activity down the left flank and his ability to push forward, Gutiérrez will need to establish himself quickly in a system where full-backs play a central role.
A profitable operation for Napoli
For the Neapolitan club, this sale is part of a squad restructuring ahead of the restart. After just one year with the Spanish defender, Napoli have pulled off a sound financial deal and now have additional room to manoeuvre as they continue their summer transfer activity.
A new challenge for Gutiérrez
At 25 years old, Miguel Gutiérrez is set to discover a third major European league, following La Liga and Serie A. A new challenge for a player expected to hold a leading role in Bayer Leverkusen's ambitions this season.
