Juventus will have to wait before getting Khéphren Thuram back. The French midfielder is set to undergo knee surgery and could be sidelined for at least four months.
The issue dates back to the end of last season. Thuram has been suffering for several months from persistent discomfort in his right knee, which had already prevented him from taking part normally in Juventus's preseason preparations.
After several examinations, surgery was ultimately deemed the best solution to resolve the problem in a lasting way.
The operation is set to take place in Lyon and his absence is expected to last until the start of 2027.
A hard blow for Juventus
This is a fresh blow for the Turin club, which needed its French midfielder to launch its season. At 25, Thuram had gradually established himself as an important part of Juventus's midfield.
This absence also comes just as the Italian club has strengthened this area with the arrival of Pape Matar Sarr, from Tottenham.
The Senegalese player could therefore quickly see his role grow in importance in a midfield deprived of his French teammate.
The goal: to return in good condition
For Khéphren Thuram, the aim now is to definitively resolve this physical issue in order to make his comeback in the best possible condition.
Juventus, for their part, will need to find solutions to make up for the prolonged absence of the French international, whose return is not expected before 2027.
