Paris FC takes on Olympique de Marseille on Sunday at 8:45 pm at the Vélodrome, for matchday 3 of Ligue 1. Ahead of this match, the Parisian club issued a statement condemning the access conditions imposed on its supporters.
According to Paris FC, access to the away section will be strictly reserved for supporter associations taking part in an organised and supervised trip, exclusively by bus, with a limit of 100 people. This decision, the club states, was made in accordance with the measures set out by the Bouches-du-Rhône Prefecture.
Paris FC calls for more flexibility
The club regrets not being able to allow more of its supporters to accompany the team to Marseille. It hopes to draw on last season's experience and the smooth running of its away trips to continue the dialogue with the authorities and work towards eventually establishing conditions allowing a greater number of supporters to travel to the Vélodrome.
Paris FC notably recalls that its supporters were already authorised to travel to the Vélodrome last season. No incident was reported during their presence in the away section. A positive precedent that the club intends to rely on to improve reception conditions in the future.
A different situation for PSG
By comparison, Paris Saint-Germain supporters will not be able to travel to the Vélodrome for the season's first Classique, scheduled for 20 September. Authorities have already taken measures banning their access to the stadium as well as their movement in several areas of Marseille.
OM looking to bounce back
On the sporting front, Olympique de Marseille is coming off a 2-0 defeat at Monaco in the previous matchday. The Marseille club is also approaching this match after a summer transfer window without a single signing, amid several departures and financial constraints.
Against Paris FC, OM will therefore look to bounce back in front of their own fans, while the Parisians will try to continue their strong start to the season.
