The final evening of the first matchday did not just produce the demonstrations from Bayern and Manchester United.
It also delivered a huge first for Como, two draws and a completely crazy scenario in Prague.
🇮🇹 Como 4-1 RB Leipzig 🇩🇪
For their Champions League debut, Como make a very strong statement. The Italian club win 4-1 against RB Leipzig.
- Martin Baturina opens the scoring in the 15th minute
- Anastasios Douvikas doubles the lead in the 38th
- Assane Diao makes it 3-0 in the 54th minute
- Andrija Maksimović pulls one back for Leipzig in the 58th
- Máximo Perrone scores the fourth goal in the 90th minute
For a club playing its very first European match, it is a spectacular start. UEFA had indeed presented Como as one of the four debutants of this league phase.
🇹🇷 Fenerbahçe 1-1 Roma 🇮🇹
Fenerbahçe and Roma part on a 1-1 draw. Bryan Cristante gives the Italians the lead in the 38th minute, before Archie Brown quickly equalizes for Fenerbahçe in the 47th.
Roma then saw a penalty situation overturned following a VAR intervention, while Fenerbahçe hit the crossbar late in the match.
A point each for two clubs returning to the Champions League after several years away.
🇳🇱 PSV 1-1 Shakhtar 🇺🇦
The same result in Eindhoven. Gleiker Mendoza opens the scoring for Shakhtar, before Sergiño Dest brings PSV level shortly after the break. The score will not change again: 1-1.
