Kylian Mbappé scored in the 14th minute against Inter Milan, bringing his total to 71 goals in the Champions League. The Real Madrid forward thus joins Raúl in 5th place on the competition's all-time scoring list, at just 27 years old.
The move began with Mbappé pressing Yann Bisseck, who lost the ball under pressure from the Frenchman. Brahim Díaz recovered the ball before setting up Mbappé, who found himself one-on-one with the Inter goalkeeper and finished with his right foot to open the scoring.
The Mbappé breakdown
Mbappé's total of 71 goals is split between AS Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid:
- 6 goals with Monaco
- 42 with PSG
- 23 with Real Madrid
He reached this total in 99 Champions League matches, compared to 142 matches for Raúl.
Ahead of the two men, the rankings remain dominated by:

Mbappé is therefore now just 19 goals away from his former Real Madrid teammate, who now stands as his next target in this hierarchy.
Before kick-off, Mbappé had received the Golden Boot award recognizing his status as top scorer of the previous Champions League edition, presented by Luís Figo.
Clearly stated ambitions
After the match, when questioned by CBS, the Frenchman also spoke about his ambitions for the season. He acknowledged targeting both the Ballon d'Or and the Champions League, while placing particular importance on the latter:
The Champions League is even more important because I play for the club of my dreams and I want it more than anything.
Real Madrid win 2-1
Real Madrid ultimately beat Inter 2-1 thanks to goals from Mbappé and Federico Valverde, before Carlos Augusto pulled one back in the 77th minute. Despite the Italian side's second-half response, the Madrid club held on to their lead.
With this win, Real Madrid begins its European campaign with three points. For Mbappé, this evening will above all be remembered as the one when he joined Raúl in the very exclusive circle of the five top scorers in Champions League history.
