Ligue 1+ marks a new milestone in the history of French football broadcasting rights. From the 2026-2027 season, the LFP's platform will broadcast all nine fixtures of each Ligue 1 matchday, putting an end to the sharing of matches with beIN Sports on the French market.
This development considerably simplifies the offering for supporters in France: all of Ligue 1 will now be accessible in one place. The platform thus becomes the exclusive broadcaster of the championship in France, with a digitally-oriented offering distributed through various partners.
A gradual consolidation
The change comes after the 2025-2026 season during which Ligue 1+ broadcast eight matches per matchday, while beIN Sports offered the ninth. For 2026-2027, the LFP decided to reclaim that final fixture in order to bring the entire championship together on its own platform.
A different situation in francophone Africa
This revolution primarily concerns the French market. In francophone Africa, the situation is different: Canal+ continues to offer Ligue 1 in its African packages and currently lists the championship among the competitions available in Senegal and several other sub-Saharan African markets.
This distinction is important for African supporters. The launch of Ligue 1+ does not mean they will necessarily have to subscribe to the new French platform to follow the championship. The broadcasting model remains differentiated according to territory.
A strategic issue on the international stage
For the LFP, the challenge is now twofold: successfully launching its platform in France, while continuing to promote its championship on an international scale. On the African continent, where players from Senegal, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Morocco and Nigeria hold an important place in the championship, maintaining this exposure remains a strategic priority.
