Olympique de Marseille suffered a serious setback this Saturday in a friendly match. Behind closed doors at the Commanderie, Bruno Genesio's men were heavily beaten by OGC Nice, going down 0-3.
A completely different face from the Yamoussoukro game
After a convincing first outing against FC Yamoussoukro, Marseille put in a very different performance. Despite a promising start and several good chances, OM came up against a particularly clinical Nice side.
Mantsounga opened the scoring, before Sofiane Diop doubled the lead. Late in the match, young Aboulaye Camara definitively sealed the Riviera side's victory by scoring the third goal.
Shortcomings to address for the Marseille coaching staff
This defeat serves as a first concrete warning for OM in their pre-season preparation. While the result remains relative at this stage of the season, the defensive frailties and lack of attacking efficiency on show against le Gym give the coaching staff plenty of work to do ahead of the next fixtures.
Nice confirm their upward momentum
On the Nice side, this victory confirms the good impressions made since the start of pre-season. The Aiglons record a second convincing win and continue their upward momentum as the resumption of Ligue 1 approaches.
