Manchester City strikes hard: Ndiaye and Enzo Fernández, the double deal on deadline day

FootReporter · 2 septembre 2026

Manchester City ended its transfer window in a flurry of activity. The English club officially confirmed the arrivals of Iliman Ndiaye and Enzo Fernández, two major reinforcements that illustrate the scale of the project being led by the Citizens.

Ndiaye, a bet on offensive talent

Arriving from Everton, Ndiaye has signed for five years. The Senegalese international's transfer is estimated at 60 million pounds, with a further 5 million pounds in potential bonuses. After two seasons at Everton, the 26-year-old forward is taking a new step up by joining one of the most ambitious clubs in Europe.

Enzo Fernández, British record equalled

A few hours later, City also officially confirmed Enzo Fernández. The Argentine midfielder arrives from Chelsea for 125 million pounds, an amount that equals the British record. He has signed until 2031.

Two profiles, two needs met

For City, these two deals address different needs. Fernández is set to strengthen a midfield that has been deeply overhauled, while Ndiaye brings his ability to beat opponents, play between the lines and operate both out wide and centrally.

The Senegalese international arrives above all with a quality that fits perfectly with the football City are aiming for: his ability to create and provoke danger in tight spaces. Having come through the Championship, then Marseille and Everton, Ndiaye is now taking on the biggest challenge of his career.

In Manchester, he will need to prove that he can also perform at the very highest European level.
