The standoff between Vinicius Jr and Real Madrid is taking on a new dimension. With talks over a contract extension having been deadlocked for several months, the Madrid club has reportedly decided to step up the tone of its approach.
An offer presented as final
According to the Spanish press, the Merengues' executives have sent an unequivocal message to the Brazilian's entourage: the contract extension offer currently on the table will not change. No further financial concessions will be made, despite the player's salary demands — he is said to be seeking remuneration comparable to, or even higher than, that of Kylian Mbappé.
A summer departure now considered an option
Faced with this deadlock, Real Madrid no longer rules out the departure of their star player. If Vinicius Jr refuses to sign under the proposed terms, the club would be prepared to place him on the market this summer, in order to avoid seeing him dangerously approach the end of his contract, set to expire in June 2027.
This shift in stance marks a genuine strategic turning point for the Casa Blanca. Long considered untouchable, the Brazilian winger no longer appears to enjoy an exceptional status within the squad. Florentino Pérez is determined to preserve the group's salary balance and does not wish to set a precedent, even for one of the most talented players in his squad.
The decision now rests with Vinicius Jr
The matter now lies in the player's hands. Either he accepts the terms proposed by Real Madrid and continues his adventure in the Spanish capital, or the Spanish champions will open the door to a transfer that could stand as one of the defining events of this summer transfer window.
