Moise Kean pushed hard. And it ended up tipping the scales.
Fiorentina and Como have reached an agreement for the transfer of the Italian striker, in a deal that could reach 40 million euros, bonuses included. The agreement is now considered done between the two clubs, even though the final formalities still need to be carried out.
A precise formula, a transfer settled in principle
The announced formula is particularly detailed: 10 million euros for the loan, 25 million for the guaranteed obligation to buy and up to 5 million in bonuses. The transfer is therefore practically settled in principle. Kean must now travel to Como to undergo his medical, sign his contract, and then be officially presented.
A player who sped things up
The player largely contributed to accelerating this outcome. On Wednesday, he arrived late at Viola Park and chose to work away from the group, which earned him a financial penalty and an individual session. On Thursday, he had rejoined collective training.
His choice is now clear.
The Como project, new European exposure
Como is playing its first Champions League in its history this season, after finishing fourth in Serie A. At 26 years old, with a contract at Florence running until 2029, Kean sees in Cesc Fàbregas' project the opportunity to reach a new level and regain top-tier European exposure.
His time at Fiorentina will nonetheless remain marked by a particularly successful first season. Kean had scored 19 goals in Serie A in 2024-2025, before dropping to eight goals in the league the following season.
A double interest for Fàbregas
For Fàbregas, the calculation is twofold. He gets the center-forward he wanted to strengthen his attack and adds to his squad a player trained in Italy, a particularly valuable asset when it comes to putting together a European squad list.
Fiorentina already preparing for life after Kean
Fiorentina, for its part, receives a substantial fee but must now manage the post-Kean era. The club is notably working on Joshua Zirkzee, who appears as one of the options being studied to replace the Italian international.
The matter is therefore no longer really a question of whether Kean will join Como. The agreement between the clubs has been reached and the remaining steps are now administrative: medical, signature and official announcement.
The Franchi thus sees its top Serie A scorer from last season leave for a club about to discover the Champions League. For Como, it is a major coup. For Fiorentina, a new chapter is already beginning.
