Monaco has secured its priority target to fill the void left by Maghnes Akliouche. Since the French international officially departed for Paris Saint-Germain, the Principality club has turned its attention to Farès Ghedjemis. According to RMC Sport, ASM has reached a contractual agreement with the Algerian winger from Frosinone. The final hurdle now remains the negotiation with the Italian club.
A standout season in Serie B
Monaco's choice is far from arbitrary. Ghedjemis, 23 years old, is coming off an exceptional campaign in Serie B with Frosinone, where he was crowned best player in the league. The left-footed winger finished the season with 15 goals and 3 assists to his name.
Those performances also earned him a place in the Algerian national team, with whom he took part in the 2026 World Cup.
Real competition, a determined Monaco
The deal has already progressed significantly on the Monegasque side. An initial offer of 7 million euros, supplemented by 2 million euros in bonuses, was rejected by Frosinone. The Italian club also turned down two proposals in the region of 10 million euros from Celtic and Rangers.
Competition is therefore very real, but Monaco intends to return to the table quickly. A deal around 10 million euros is being discussed as a basis to finalise the transfer.
An identified need, a battle to be fought
For ASM, Ghedjemis is expected to address a clearly defined need. Akliouche's departure left a gap on the right side of the attacking play, and Filipe Luis himself asked the board to strengthen that area without delay.
While the player has already given his agreement to the Principality club, Frosinone still needs to be convinced. Monaco hopes to finalise the operation quickly in order to have its new attacking player available ahead of upcoming European fixtures. Akliouche's successor has been identified — all that remains is to win the final battle: the transfer itself.
