Nicolas Jackson is at the centre of a complex transfer situation. Aston Villa have identified Chelsea's Senegalese striker as a priority option to strengthen their attacking department this summer. The Birmingham club is looking to sign a centre-forward and has checked the Senegalese international's name among its targets.
A regulatory obstacle is, however, holding the deal back. A specific Premier League rule prevents Chelsea and Aston Villa from directly negotiating this transfer under the current conditions. On Chelsea's side, Jackson's situation remains to be clarified. The striker took part in the club's pre-season tour alongside Moisés Caicedo, which indicates he is still part of the squad managed by the Blues. Chelsea could nonetheless consider a departure if the financial and sporting conditions are right.
