OM: Leverkusen make their move for Facundo Medina

FootReporter · 27 juillet 2026

Facundo Medina may not have finished writing his story at Olympique de Marseille, but his future at the club is already uncertain. Having arrived last summer from RC Lens on a paid loan of 2 million euros with a mandatory purchase clause of 18 million euros, the Argentine defender could leave the Phocaean city after just one season.

Leverkusen enter the picture

Bayer Leverkusen have begun discussions with the Marseille board to explore the conditions of a transfer. The two clubs are currently exchanging views on the most suitable arrangement: a loan with an option to buy or a permanent transfer — no avenue is being ruled out at this stage.

OM set their price

For their part, Marseille have no intention of selling their player on the cheap. The Olympian club want to recoup at least the 20 million euros invested to sign the Argentine international, who was a finalist at the 2026 World Cup.

Solid and versatile, Medina continues to attract strong interest on the European market. If negotiations reach a conclusion, OM could achieve a financially neutral operation, while giving themselves the means to recruit a new defensive reinforcement during this transfer window.
