Pape Matar Sarr wants to leave Tottenham to regain playing time

Chroniqueur & Reporter · 25 août 2026

Pape Matar Sarr has reportedly informed the club's management of his wish to leave Tottenham in order to regain more playing time. The decision comes as competition in the London side's midfield has intensified, notably with the arrivals of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

The Senegalese midfielder did not feature in the opening Premier League matchday against Brentford. Tottenham cited a hamstring issue at the time.

Galatasaray are interested in the player and are said to have submitted an initial offer, while several English clubs are also following his situation. Sarr would reportedly prefer to stay in the Premier League if he were to leave London.

A decisive transfer window for the Lions

For Sarr, the stakes now go beyond his situation at Tottenham. His place in Senegal's starting eleven had already become uncertain in recent months. The 23-year-old midfielder was no longer an undisputed starter and had lost ground in the midfield pecking order.

The arrival of Patrick Vieira now opens a new cycle for the Lions. In this context, Sarr needs to find an environment that allows him to play regularly, become a starter again and regain influence.

His next club could therefore carry particular importance for the rest of his international career. More than just a change of scenery, this transfer window represents an opportunity for the Senegalese player to return to his best level and shake up the hierarchy within the national team.

At 23, Pape Matar Sarr must now make a clear footballing choice: regain playing time in order to become indispensable once again.
