Patrick Vieira will not, after all, be presented this Tuesday as the new head coach of the Lions. His appointment is said to have been approved by the emergency committee of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), but discussions are apparently not yet fully finalized.
The Pape Thiaw case as a prerequisite
The Federation reportedly wants to first settle the situation regarding Pape Thiaw, on the advice of its lawyers, before proceeding with the final official announcement of Vieira's appointment.
A financial agreement under discussion
An agreement is said to have been reached around a salary of 35 million CFA francs per month, with a four-year contract being considered for the French coach. However, until the contract is signed, these details cannot be regarded as definitively settled.
Patrick Vieira's presentation has therefore been postponed. The FSF still needs to finalize the last details of his arrival, particularly the matter linked to Pape Thiaw, before it can officially confirm the 1998 world champion's appointment as head of the Lions.
