Liverpool want to pull off a double deal with Paris Saint-Germain. The Reds are simultaneously moving forward on the cases of Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, with a now very concrete idea: reuniting the two Parisians at Anfield. A package of 175 million euros is currently being discussed for the whole operation.
This amount above all marks a shift in Paris's position. PSG had initially set a very high valuation for Barcola, above 150 million euros, while Mbaye was also considered a high-value player. Paris now seems ready to discuss a joint departure, provided they obtain a fee deemed sufficient.
Barcola and Mbaye, a strong signal
The most telling signal came from squad management. Neither player was called up against Lens, even as PSG start their season with several attacking absences. Their situation comes at exactly the moment when Liverpool are accelerating talks.
For Barcola, the case is particularly advanced. The French international has chosen the Liverpool project and does not wish to extend his contract in Paris. PSG now seem to have accepted this wish and prefer to avoid keeping a player whose future is clearly heading to England.
Mbaye is in a different situation. The young Senegalese is mainly looking for a guarantee of greater playing time. Liverpool are today one of the most serious destinations, even though the contractual agreement announced in recent days has not yet been fully confirmed.
Liverpool want to seize the opportunity
The English club have understood that a double transfer could be possible. Barcola represents the major investment, Mbaye the bet on the future. Together, they would allow Liverpool to strengthen both wings with young, explosive and complementary profiles.
Arsenal remain interested in Barcola, but Liverpool retain a significant advantage: both players favor the Reds.
The case has therefore entered its decisive phase. €175M is now on the negotiating table. PSG have not yet given their final green light, but their position has clearly evolved.
Liverpool want both. Paris, for now, is ready to listen.
