Achilles tendon rupture for Lionel Mpasi, Le Havre's goalkeeper?

FootReporter · 6 septembre 2026

Le Havre lost at home to Brest (1-2) in matchday 3 of Ligue 1. But the result took a back seat after the serious injury to goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi, which occurred in stoppage time.

Mpasi had just made a save on a chip shot from Joris Chotard. Landing back down, he was seriously injured and required lengthy treatment before being carried off on a stretcher.

The Lionel Mpasi situation

The diagnosis is not yet definitive. An Achilles tendon rupture is feared, and further examinations should clarify the nature of the injury.

At the post-match press conference, Didier Digard did not hide his concern: 'Unfortunately, it doesn't look good. He risks being out for a long time', said the Le Havre coach.

Mpasi had played in the first three matches of the season. His unavailability, should the rupture be confirmed, could push Le Havre to sign a new goalkeeper.

The Normandy club will therefore have to deal with this uncertainty at the start of an already difficult season.
