Simon Adingra is set to try to relaunch his career in the Netherlands. The Ivorian international is officially joining Ajax Amsterdam from Sunderland, on loan for the 2026-2027 season.
A difficult spell in England
At 24 years old, the winger is embarking on a new project after a tough spell across the Channel. Having arrived at Sunderland last year, Adingra only played 15 matches in all competitions for the English club, 10 of them as a starter, scoring just one goal.
The player had already been loaned out to Monaco during the second half of last season. His time in the Principality allowed him to regain some playing time, but Sunderland ultimately no longer seemed to be counting on him for the future of their project.
The terms of the loan
Ajax therefore represents a new opportunity. The Dutch club has secured his loan until the end of the season, along with a purchase option estimated at around 16 million euros. The loan fee itself is thought to be close to 3.8 million euros.
For Adingra, the objective is clear: to regain consistency, string together matches, and become again the explosive player who had impressed while wearing the Brighton colours.
An international journey
Trained at the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana, the Ivorian then moved to Denmark before establishing himself in England. His spell at Brighton notably confirmed his qualities of speed, drive and creativity.
In Amsterdam, Adingra now has a favourable environment in which to move forward again. Ajax, for their part, hope to have found a player capable of bringing depth and creativity to their attack.
