There are draws. There are wins. And then there are scenarios like the one experienced by Lens in Prague.
Trailing 2-1 in the 88th minute, RC Lens seemed to be heading for defeat on their Champions League debut. A few minutes later, the Sang et Or were celebrating a 3-2 victory.
Šturm strikes twice
Slavia Prague opened the scoring in the 51st minute through Danijel Šturm. Lens did not panic.
In the 73rd minute, Abdallah Sima brought the two teams level. The Senegalese forward, who knows Slavia particularly well, thus hurt his former club.
But the script turned cruel for Lens: in the 88th minute, Šturm scored his second goal of the night. 2-1. Very little time remained.
Two minutes that changed everything
Lens nevertheless refused to give in. In the 90+1st minute, Florian Thauvin equalised. 2-2.
And while Slavia did not even have time to catch their breath, Lens struck again. In the 90+3rd minute, Ruben Aguilar scored Lens's third goal. 3-2!
RC Lens had just turned around a match that seemed lost moments earlier. Šturm had scored twice. Sima had brought Lens back into it. Thauvin had levelled the score. And Aguilar finally wrote the final line of this crazy story.
From 2-1 to 2-3 in five minutes: Lens produced one of the most spectacular scenarios of this opening matchday.
