Tottenham sinks deeper into doubt: four matches, zero wins and zero goals

FootReporter · 13 septembre 2026

Tottenham's start to the season is taking a worrying turn.

The Spurs were held to a draw by Everton (0-0) on Saturday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Another disappointing result for Roberto De Zerbi, still searching for his first Premier League win since taking charge in north London.

But the most worrying figure lies elsewhere: after four matchdays, Tottenham have still not scored a single goal in the league.

An unprecedented situation in the Premier League era

It is a historic situation for the club, which had never experienced such a start to a season since the creation of the Premier League. Against Everton, the Spurs nonetheless tried to change the script in the second half, notably with the introductions of Lucas Bergvall, Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus.

The problem, however, remains the same: Tottenham are sorely lacking in efficiency in the final third.

Everton could have done worse

The Everton Toffees could even have come away with more than a point. They created several dangerous chances and made better use of their transitions, forcing the Spurs to stay alert until the very end of the match.

Pressure mounts around De Zerbi

Tension is indeed starting to rise around the Italian coach. After the match, a heated exchange with Mathys Tel illustrated the frustration surrounding this difficult start to the season.

Tottenham must now quickly find a solution. Because after four matchdays, the problem is no longer just about the numbers: the Spurs still need to learn how to score.
