Paris FC struck a major blow this Sunday at the Vélodrome. At the end of a spectacular match, the Parisians won 3-2 against Marseille, driven by a towering Lassine Sinayoko, who scored a hat-trick.
A disastrous start for OM
It took Paris FC just 23 seconds to open the scoring. Sent through by Koleosho, Sinayoko took advantage of a poorly positioned Marseille defense to finish into an empty net. Marseille reacted quickly: as early as the 8th minute, Gouiri capitalized on a Parisian mistake to equalize.
OM then took control of the ball, but lacked precision in the final thirty meters. Paris FC, meanwhile, waited for its moment and struck again in the 19th minute: Pagis found Sinayoko, unmarked in the box, who placed an unstoppable header.
Marseille dominates, Paris FC threatens
The scenario repeated itself after the break. While Kebbal and Koleosho missed two chances to make it 3-1, Gouiri equalized in the 53rd minute with a superb half-volley. The Vélodrome then rallied behind its team.
But Paris FC remained dangerous on the counter. This is exactly what Sinayoko had announced at half-time:
We knew that on transitions we could hurt them extremely badly.
In the 86th minute, a handball by Egan-Riley in the box was sanctioned following a VAR review. Sinayoko converted the penalty and completed his hat-trick.
The tactical duel
Marseille had 61% possession, but Paris FC had more shots on goal (18 to 14) and, above all, a significantly higher xG (3.09 to 1.31). Rosenior's 4-2-3-1 perfectly exploited the spaces left by OM, particularly on transitions.
A second consecutive defeat for Marseille. Paris FC, meanwhile, moves onto the podium.
