Paris Saint-Germain could return to a lead they had set aside. After the failure of the Zion Suzuki deal, the name of Diogo Costa is resurfacing in Parisian transfer news.
On Monday, August 17, Foot01, drawing notably on A Bola, reports that the FC Porto goalkeeper remains a target valued by PSG. Paris had made progress on Suzuki before the Japanese goalkeeper ultimately chose Aston Villa. This failure now forces the Parisian club to reexamine its options.
The Portuguese lead revived
Diogo Costa is not a new idea, however. The Portuguese goalkeeper was already among the options studied by PSG in the spring. The deal then cooled off, notably when Paris turned toward Suzuki.
Costa still has a release clause of 60 million euros. Porto therefore has no obligation to negotiate at a lower amount. At this stage, no official offer from PSG nor any agreement between the two clubs has been confirmed.
Chevalier, the other piece of the puzzle
The situation of Lucas Chevalier could also weigh heavily. According to Foot01, Costa's possible arrival would be linked to how the current hierarchy in Paris's goal evolves. For now, Chevalier is still expected to stay at PSG.
