FC Barcelona are pushing hard for Rodri, but Manchester City are not budging. After a first proposal was rejected, the English club have also turned down a second Catalan offer, estimated at around 60 million euros, with bonuses that could push the total higher. City continue to view this proposal as insufficient given the value they place on their Spanish midfielder.
Barça, for their part, have not given up. Rodri is said to be in favour of a move to Catalonia, and his stated preference for the Blaugrana over Real Madrid lends credibility to the Catalan club's project. However, as long as the two clubs remain far apart financially, the deal remains in limbo. Manchester City are nevertheless already preparing for the possibility of their midfielder's departure.
Mikautadze, a parallel attacking option
On an entirely different front, Barcelona are working on the Georges Mikautadze file. The Villarreal striker is being considered as an alternative to Julián Álvarez, the club's priority target to reinforce their attack. Contacts have been made regarding the Georgian international, whom Villarreal are said to value at between 60 and 65 million euros.
Mikautadze is coming off a convincing first season in Spain, with 15 goals and 6 assists in 42 appearances according to Spanish sources. His profile — mobility, technical quality and efficiency in the box — matches the criteria Barça are looking for to strengthen their attacking department.
Rodri and Mikautadze therefore represent two very distinct cases: the first aimed at reinforcing the midfield, the second the attack. For now, neither deal has been concluded.
