Bayern Munich refuses to give in to panic, but the Bavarian club is already preparing for every eventuality. With Michael Olise regularly reported to be in the sights of Real Madrid, the German club's executives have begun considering the profile that could take his place should a departure come to fruition.
Olise, too valuable an asset to be sold cheaply
Having arrived last summer, the French international quickly established himself as one of Bayern's key players. His impressive performances throughout the season, and then at the 2026 World Cup — where he stood out as one of the tournament's top assisters — naturally drew the attention of Europe's biggest clubs.
Real Madrid is monitoring his progress closely. While no concrete approach has yet been made, the Spanish club continues to study the matter. Under contract until 2029, Olise nevertheless represents a considerable investment and Bayern have no intention of letting him leave on the cheap.
Barcola, Bayern's Plan B
In the meantime, the Munich hierarchy is already working on a fallback option. According to several German media outlets, Bradley Barcola is at the top of the list to succeed Olise should he leave. The Paris Saint-Germain winger appeals thanks to his pace, his ability to beat opponents and his potential for improvement, even if his profile differs slightly from that of the Frenchman.
Bayern are not, however, planning to act immediately. The club is first waiting to see how Barcola's contract situation at PSG develops. The French international is contracted until 2028, but his future in Paris is regularly fuelled by rumours, particularly due to the fierce competition in the Parisian attacking department.
A deliberate strategy of anticipation
Bayern's objective is clear: to keep Michael Olise for as long as possible while calmly planning for the future. Should the Frenchman ultimately join Real Madrid in the coming months or in the summer of 2027, Bradley Barcola currently appears to be the leading candidate to take over on the wings at the Allianz Arena.
