Romelu Lukaku will continue his career in Turkey. Napoli and Fenerbahçe have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of the Belgian striker, for approximately 6 million euros, with potential add-ons on top.
The player has also agreed to his contract terms and has successfully passed his medical. All that remains is to finalise the last documents before the transfer is officially announced.
A new chapter at 33
At 33 years old, Lukaku turns the page after two seasons in Napoli colours. Having arrived from Chelsea in the summer of 2024, the Belgian contributed to the Italian title in his very first season. His last campaign, however, was disrupted by repeated injuries.
Fenerbahçe are acquiring an experienced, powerful centre-forward who remains capable of making his presence felt in the penalty area. The Istanbul club is banking on this number 9 profile to strengthen their attack and fuel their ambitions, both on the domestic and European stage.
A long and storied career
Lukaku has worn many shirts throughout his career:
- Anderlecht
- West Bromwich Albion
- Everton
- Chelsea
- Manchester United
- Inter Milan
- Roma
- Napoli
Turkey will therefore represent a brand new league for the Belgian international, who is set to embark on a new adventure in Fenerbahçe colours. The transfer is now virtually done and dusted, pending the official announcement.
