Olympique Lyonnais failed to fully turn the page on Europe. Three days after their elimination in the Champions League play-off against Fenerbahçe, OL were held to a draw by Le Havre (1-1) at the Groupama Stadium.
The Lyonnais nevertheless had the chance to bounce back immediately after their convincing win in Toulouse on matchday one. But facing a well-organised Le Havre block, Paulo Fonseca's men lacked precision in the final third for long stretches.
Openda saves Lyon
The script could have been even more frustrating. After several Lyon chances, including one off the post, Le Havre took the lead in the 74th minute through Antoine Semenyo. OL then stepped up the pace and were eventually rewarded.
Loïs Openda equalised in the 87th minute, sparing his side a second consecutive disappointment at home.
Questions that remain
This result obviously does not call everything into question, but it highlights OL's current difficulties. The team shows promising sequences, but still lacks consistency and efficiency.
After a gruelling week marked by European disappointment, Lyon will above all need to rediscover freshness and control. The league season remains long, but the upcoming matches will already reveal Fonseca's ability to build a more consistent team.
A point salvaged, but still plenty of work ahead for Lyon.
