The summer transfer window closed in several major European leagues after a particularly busy final day. Between last-minute transfers, loans and abandoned deals, clubs multiplied their moves right up to the final hours.
The last big deals of the summer window
Among the most notable operations, Nick Woltemade left Newcastle to join Juventus on loan. The Italian club thus continues to reshape its attacking department.
In Dortmund, Ethan Nwaneri arrives from Arsenal. The young English midfielder joins Borussia Dortmund to gain playing time and continue his progression at the highest level.
Harvey Elliott, meanwhile, leaves Liverpool temporarily. The English midfielder joins Valencia on loan and will try to regain an important role after a difficult period at the Reds.
Another notable move: Mykhailo Mudryk joins Tottenham on loan from Chelsea. The Ukrainian will look to relaunch a career that has struggled to take off since his arrival in the Premier League.

- Youssouf Fofana leaves AC Milan to join Sevilla FC on loan.
- PSG registered an important departure with the termination of Renato Sanches's contract, who leaves Paris after several seasons marked by injuries and loans.
- Moussa Diaby makes his return to Europe, leaving Al-Ittihad to rejoin Bayer Leverkusen, the club where he had broken through a few years earlier.
This final day confirms a strong trend of this transfer window: big clubs spent heavily, but loans and revival operations also played an important role.
African players also animated the final day
The final day of the European transfer window was also marked by several moves involving African players. Some took a new step up, while others chose a loan to relaunch their careers.
Senegal is particularly well represented. Iliman Ndiaye leaves Everton for Manchester City in a deal estimated at around 76 million euros with add-ons. At 26, the forward thus joins one of the most powerful clubs in Europe.
Pape Matar Sarr also moves up a level. The Senegalese midfielder leaves Tottenham to join Juventus on loan, with an option to buy that could bring the deal to around 30 million euros depending on the conditions set out.
The evening could also have belonged to Lamine Camara. The Monaco midfielder was very close to joining Chelsea for around 55 million euros, but the transfer was ultimately cancelled in the final hours. The Senegalese therefore remains at Monaco despite very strong interest from the London club.
In Belgium... sorry, in Lyon, Malick Fofana chose Sunderland. The 21-year-old winger leaves OL to discover the Premier League in a deal that could reach 35 million euros with add-ons.
Another move to watch: Youssouf Fofana leaves AC Milan to join Sevilla FC on loan. The French midfielder of Ivorian descent will try to regain playing time in Spain.
The transfer window is not entirely over for African players, however. Some markets remain open after the closure of the five major leagues, notably in Turkey, Portugal and Saudi Arabia. Last-minute transfers may therefore still occur in the coming days.
For African players, this end of the transfer window has in any case confirmed a trend: European clubs continue to invest in young, explosive profiles capable of quickly establishing themselves at the highest level.
