Real Madrid and Vinícius Jr have still not reached an agreement on a contract extension. While discussions are ongoing, one major sticking point remains: salary. The Brazilian winger is reportedly demanding close to 20 million euros net per season, a figure that exceeds the wage structure the Madrid club intends to maintain.
An undeniable sporting record
It is hard, however, to dispute the player's importance on the pitch. Since joining Real Madrid, Vinícius has played 375 matches, scored 128 goals and provided 100 assists. Last season, he again found the net 16 times in La Liga and 5 times in the Champions League, before shining with Brazil by scoring 4 goals at the World Cup.
At the same time, Real Madrid fell short of their collective ambitions. The club finished second in La Liga, eight points behind FC Barcelona, and endured a second consecutive season without a single trophy. A context that makes it difficult to imagine the club's hierarchy parting ways with one of their most decisive players.
Arsenal watching closely, internal tensions rising
This situation is inevitably attracting interest from elsewhere. Arsenal are monitoring the situation closely: the Gunners want to strengthen their left flank, especially since Leandro Trossard has left the club and Gabriel Martinelli could also be on his way out. For the time being, however, no official contact has been made between the two clubs.
In Spain, information remains contradictory. Some media outlets point to simple financial disagreements, while others describe an increasingly strained relationship between Vinícius and the Madrid hierarchy. One thing is certain: this matter is far from closed.
Time on the player's side
The calendar works in the Brazilian winger's favour. From January onwards, he will be free to negotiate with any foreign club ahead of a potential departure at the end of his contract. Real Madrid continue to express their desire to extend their star's deal, but are said to no longer rule out a sale if no agreement is reached, in order to avoid losing him for free in 2027.

Meanwhile, the Merengues are making progress on another front: that of Yann Diomandé. With PSG having withdrawn from discussions, Real Madrid are said to be in an excellent position to finalise the signing of the young talent, regarded as one of European football's brightest prospects.
Madrid's transfer window could therefore reach a major turning point this summer: securing the future with Vinícius… or gradually preparing for what comes next.
