Bayern Munich had a scare. Away to newly promoted Elversberg, the German champions once again had to rely on a moment of inspiration from Harry Kane to come away with all three points. A difficult but valuable win.
Karl puts Bayern ahead
The Bavarians took the lead in the 26th minute thanks to young Lennart Karl, set up by Ismaël Saibari.
But Elversberg did not fold. The promoted side kept playing with ambition and eventually equalised in the 61st minute through Maurice Krattenmacher.
Kane answers the call
As Bayern piled on the chances without managing to make the difference, Harry Kane struck in the 72nd minute. The English forward pounced on a situation inside the box to restore the visitors' lead.
Elversberg then pushed for an equaliser, but Bayern held on to the result. The statistics nonetheless illustrate the paradox of the match: 27 shots for the Bavarians against just 5 for the promoted side, for a one-goal margin of victory.
After the match, Max Eberl admitted that Bayern had been too passive after taking the lead, while also praising Elversberg's quality. The message was clear: this kind of match demands greater focus.
Bayern therefore win without being fully convincing, but Kane scores his first Bundesliga goal of the season at the best possible moment.
