Real Madrid reacted perfectly after their defeat in Seville. At the Santiago Bernabéu, José Mourinho's men quickly took control to win 4-1 against Rayo Vallecano. Kylian Mbappé, who scored twice, continues his impressive start to the season.
Madrid strike three times in the first half
Real open the scoring as early as the 14th minute from the penalty spot, after a foul by Lejeune on Álvaro Carreras. Mbappé converts.
Three minutes later, Carreras capitalises on another move started by Mbappé to score the second goal. Then Jude Bellingham makes it 3-0 in the 35th minute.
Rayo pull one back straight after the restart through Sergio Camello, but Madrid do not panic.
A tougher second half
Having largely dominated the first 45 minutes, Madrid had to withstand more pressure. Thibaut Courtois in particular had to make a save against Pedro Díaz.
Mourinho admitted after the match that his team had put together an exceptional first half, but that they had lost energy and concentration after the break. The coach explained that he had wanted to settle the match quickly, a goal that was ultimately achieved.
In stoppage time, Mbappé came back to cap off an already very successful evening with his second goal, from a pass by Arda Güler.
The Frenchman now has seven goals in six matches this season.
Real thus record their fourth consecutive win at the Bernabéu and head into the rest of the season on a solid footing.
