Barça extends Hamza Abdelkarim's contract until 2030

FootReporter · 12 septembre 2026

FC Barcelona have announced the contract extension of Hamza Abdelkarim until June 2030. The Catalan club confirmed the agreement in an official statement, ahead of a signing ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, September 15 at 5 p.m., in the office of president Joan Laporta.

Following the ceremony, the young 18-year-old Egyptian forward will speak to the media in the club's business hall. Abdelkarim had arrived last February on loan with an option to buy from Al-Ahly, his youth club.

His purchase option, estimated at around €1.5m, was exercised following a convincing run with the U19s: 6 goals in 11 matches. He had then signed an initial contract running until June 2029.

The following summer, Hansi Flick included him in the first-team squad for the 2026-2027 preseason. Abdelkarim scored four goals during that period, before making his first-team debut in late August, in the 5-2 win over Rayo Vallecano. He currently has one La Liga appearance this season, having played four minutes.

An Egyptian international with six caps, he also took part in the 2026 World Cup with Egypt.

By locking in his contract until 2030 after only a few months at the club and a handful of first-team minutes, Barça are clearly betting on a trajectory rather than a track record.
